Intermediate

Intermediate is comprised of students grades third through fifth grade, and also our middle school students.

Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades

Today’s third, fourth, and fifth-graders are under a tremendous amount of academic stress.  Standardized tests handed down from Tallahassee determine whether or not they are eligible to move from grade to grade.  Is your child ready to face such a “pass-fail” situation?  School overcrowding and soaring discipline problems mean that your child receives significantly less one-on-one interaction with his or her teacher at a time when individual attention is most critical.
Our most qualified tutors work with the intermediate grade students to help prepare them for this barrage of testing.  The FCAT measures reading, math, and science in grades three and five, and the Florida WRITES test determines composition skills of fourth-graders.  It takes a tremendous amount of work from both students and teachers to master the skills necessary to pass these tests.  We specialize in both test-taking strategies specific to the FCAT and Florida WRITES exams and in remediation of students who are struggling to meet the standards.

Middle School

Middle school is, at best, a difficult transition in a teenager’s life.  The curriculum changes drastically, moving from general subjects to more specific studies.  Many middle school students need a great deal of support and motivation with the increased workload.  The specific design of our program enhances the learning achieved in class through homework assistance, research projects, and skill-specific activities.

All of our tutors are college-educated and capable of assisting this age level with the problems that they encounter on a daily basis. They are understanding of the difficulties that these students encounter both academically and socially.
